A Passenger Vehicle account allows individuals to get up to a maximum of four tags for passenger vehicles only.  If you want to use a dedicated E-ZPass lane when towing a trailer, camper or boat you can now get a special towing E-ZPass tag.

Choose from four EZ Ways to sign up for E-ZPass below.

  1. RETAIL
    E-ZPass On-the-Go tags are pre-packaged passenger car tags that can be purchased for $25 at any authorized retailer. On-the-Go tags have a value of $25 with $15 immediately available for toll use. The remaining $10 is applied once the tag is registered. Customers can register their accounts via a toll-free number or on-line.

    E-ZPass On-the-Go Instructions
    It's as E-Z as 1-2-3:
    1. Purchase an E-ZPass On-the-Go Tag for $25 at any authorized E-ZPass retail location.
    2. If the tag is for your use, it can be mounted and used immediately.
    3. Visit www.e-zpassNY.com/register Leaving NYS Thruway Authority's Website and register your tag within 48 hours of its first use. Once the tag is registered, the full $25.00 will be moved to your E-ZPass account.
    Existing E-ZPass customers that have a New York State Thruway account can also pick up an additional tag at any of the Authorized Retail Locations. The full $25.00 is applied to the account once the tag is registered.

    If the Tag is a gift or being used at a later date, you have up to a year to register the Tag.

    Please note E-ZPass On-the-Go Tags are for passenger vehicles only.
  2. ONLINE
    Sign up for an E-ZPass account online at www.e-zpassNY.com Leaving NYS Thruway Authority's Website . To become an E-ZPass member, please have your vehicle information and a valid credit card ready.
  3. MAIL
    Stop and pick up an E-ZPass application at a Thruway toll plaza or download an application from www.e-zpassNY.com Leaving NYS Thruway Authority's Website  and mail to:

  4. IN PERSON
    Visit one of the convenient E-ZPass walk-in centers Leaving NYS Thruway Authority's Website  and get your E-ZPass today.

Commercial/Business Vehicles

  • BUSINESS PREPAID ACCOUNT
    A Business Account is a prepaid option available to individually owned or company-owned businesses that do not qualify for or do not wish to establish a "post-paid" commercial charge account with the Thruway Authority.   • COMMERCIAL POST-PAID ACCOUNT
    The Thruway Authority offers the use of E-ZPass tags to commercial trucking companies who set up “post-paid” charge accounts with the Authority. These E-ZPass accounts are referred to as “Commercial” accounts.
