TRAVEL ADVISORY – ROCKLAND COUNTY: GARDEN STATE PARKWAY CONNECTOR PAVING WORK TO CLOSE RAMPS TONIGHT AND TOMORROW NIGHT

Southbound I-87 Exit 14A Off-Ramp Will Close at 11 PM

Ramp from Garden State Parkway Connector to Westbound I-87 Will Also Close Overnight

Motorists Should Follow Posted Detours

The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that the southbound Thruway (I-87) exit 14A off-ramp to the Garden State Parkway Connector will close overnight tonight and Thursday night from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for pavement repairs. The ramp from the Garden State Parkway Connector to the northbound Thruway will also close during these times.

Motorists on the southbound Thruway seeking to access the Garden State Parkway Connector should continue to exit 14 (Spring Valley - Nanuet - NY Route 59) and turn right on Route 59 in Nanuet. From there, they can enter the northbound Thruway less than half a mile away and take Exit 14A.

Motorists traveling north on the Garden State Parkway Connector should take the Thruway south and follow the detour above to exit 14 to get onto the northbound Thruway.

Variable Message Signs will be activated ahead of the work zone to alert motorists of the closure and detour. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

The ramp closures are part of a $6.4 million pavement improvement project on the Garden State Parkway Connector, which includes rebuilding the pavement by performing mill and inlay operations to a three-inch depth from milepost 0 to milepost 2.4 northbound and southbound, adding new reflective line striping, signs and guiderail. Motorists may encounter lane closures on the highway along with traffic shifts and stoppages while construction is underway. The project is expected to be completed by late Fall 2022.
