Ramp from I-287 in New Jersey to Southbound Thruway To Be Reduced to Single Lane

Motorists Should Expect Delays Especially During Morning and Evening Commutes

The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that travel on the southbound Thruway (I-87/I-287) near Exit 15 (New Jersey - I-287 - NJ Route 17 South) in Ramapo will be temporarily reduced from three lanes to two beginning Thursday night, June 9. Additionally, the northbound I-287 ramp from New Jersey to the southbound Thruway will be reduced from two lanes to one.

The lane reductions are needed for bridge deck repair work and the temporary alignment is scheduled to remain in place for several weeks.

Delays are expected, especially during the morning and evening commutes, and motorists, particularly those coming from I-287 in New Jersey, may wish to seek alternate routes.

Variable Message Signs will be activated ahead of the work zone.

Motorists are urged to be alert and follow the posted work zone speed limits and are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
