TRAVEL ADVISORY – ROCKLAND COUNTY: OVERHEAD SIGN STRUCTURE INSTALLATION
NEAR THRUWAY EXIT 13 TO REQUIRE OVERNIGHT TRAFFIC STOPS THIS WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY

Installation Will Require Lane Closures and Multiple Traffic Stops

Traffic Stops Will Begin After 11:30 P.M., Lasting Approximately 20 Minutes Each

Motorists May Wish To Consider Alternate Routes

The New York State Thruway Authority today announced the installation of a sign structure over the northbound Thruway (I-87/I-287) near exit 13 (New Jersey - Palisades Interstate Parkway - Bear Mountain State Park) in Clarkstown will necessitate multiple overnight traffic stops this week. Lasting approximately 20 minutes each, at least two traffic stops will occur in both the northbound and southbound lanes on Wednesday, April 27. Two traffic stops are also scheduled for the overnight of Thursday, April 28, but only in the northbound direction. The installation work also will require lane closures on both nights; all lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. the following morning.

On Wednesday, lane closures will start after 8 p.m. followed by simultaneous traffic stops in both directions after 11:30 p.m. to allow for the safe installation of the steel sign structure over the northbound highway. As part of the work, traffic in both directions will be reduced to one lane northbound and two lanes southbound.

On Thursday, lane closures will start after 8 p.m. followed by traffic stops after 11:30 p.m. in the northbound direction only to allow for the safe installation of two large sign panels on the structure. As part of the work, traffic will be reduced to one lane northbound.

All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Variable Message Signs have been activated ahead of the work zone to alert motorists. Motorists may wish to seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
