TRAVEL ADVISORY – ORANGE COUNTY: SOUTHBOUND I-87 EXIT 16 RAMP TO ROUTE 17 TO CLOSE OVERNIGHT ON THURSDAY

Southbound Exit Ramp Will Close at 11 p.m. for Maintenance Work

Ramp Will Reopen No Later Than 5 a.m. Friday

The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that the southbound I-87 exit 16 ramp (Harriman - US Route 6 - NY Route 17) to Route 17 and Route 6 in Harriman will close overnight on Thursday, March 10, from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following day for maintenance activities.

The posted detour will necessitate traveling to southbound I-87 exit 15A (Sloatsburg - Suffern - NY Routes 17 North & 59) approximately 14 miles away and getting onto northbound I-87 in order to return to exit 16. Motorists heading to Orange County may wish to seek alternate routes.

A Variable Message Sign has been activated ahead of the work zone to alert motorists of the closure and detour.

All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
