Vehicle Classification Information
Vehicle classification is based on the height of the vehicle over the first two axles and the total number of axles, including any towed vehicles or trailers.
- LOW: Vehicles under 7 feet 6 inches in height are considered “LOW” (L).
- HIGH: Vehicles 7 feet 6 inches in height or greater are considered “HIGH” (H).

Number of axles: 3
Three-axle vehicles including: pick-up trucks, suv, and sedans with a trailer
Number of axles: 4 or more
Four-axle vehicles including: pick-up trucks, suv, and sedans with a trailer

Two-axle vehicles including: semi-trucks, buses, sprinter/cargo vans and RVs
Number of axles: 3
Three-axle vehicles including: semi-trucks, buses, and RVs
Number of axles: 4
Four-axle vehicles including: commercial trucks, RVs, truck and trailers
Number of axles: 5
Five-axle vehicles including: commercial trucks, RVs, heavy duty semi-truck with trailer
Number of axles: 6
Six-axle vehicles including: heavy duty semi-truck with trailer
Number of axles: 7 or more
Seven-axle vehicles including: multi-trailer trucks, and heavy duty semi-truck with trailer or multi-trailers
