Intermittent Traffic Stoppages Also Planned for Traffic Leaving the Thruway at Exit 47

The New York State Thruway Authority and New York State Department of Transportation today announced the temporary overnight closure of I-490 westbound at exit 2 (Route 33/Bergen) beginning at 11 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28 through 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29. The closure is to accommodate the installation of overhead directional signage on the exit 47 (LeRoy) interchange ramp as part of the Thruway’s Cashless Tolling Project.

During the scheduled closure, all traffic traveling westbound on I-490 must exit at exit 2 (Route 33/Bergen) and follow the posted detours to re-enter I-490 to get on the New York State Thruway (I-90) at exit 47 (I-490 – LeRoy).

Additionally, brief traffic stoppages are scheduled during the same time period for traffic exiting the Thruway at exit 47. Stoppages are scheduled to last no longer than 20 minutes each. Thruway mainline traffic will not be impacted.

All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Variable Message Signs have been activated ahead of the closure point to alert motorists.
