Thruway Authority Announces Start of $7.8 Million Bridge Replacement Project on Thruway in Greene County

The New York State Thruway Authority today announced the start of a $7.8 million project to replace the Interchange 21 bridge over the Thruway (I-87) at milepost 113.89 in Greene County. The 71-year-old bridge will be replaced with a modern structure. Approximately 4,800 vehicles per day travel over the bridge. The Thruway Authority has invested more than $162 million in Capital Region Projects since 2024.

Thruway Authority Requests Public Input for Comprehensive Safety Action Plan to Advance Safety for All Who Travel the 570-Mile Highway

The New York State Thruway Authority is encouraging motorists, commercial drivers, first responders, and the traveling public to provide input on safety concerns along the Thruway and add site-specific safety issues to the interactive map on ThruwaySafety.org through April 17, 2026. Input collected will inform the development of strategies, actions, and policies to enhance safety for all travelers along the Thruway. This public input will also be incorporated into the Thruway’s Comprehensive Safety Action Plan (CSAP).

Governor Hochul Announces Start of $8.2 Million Malden Turnpike Bridge Replacement Project Over the Thruway in Ulster County

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the start of an $8.2 million project to replace the Malden Turnpike bridge over the Thruway (I-87, milepost 103.16) in the Village of Saugerties in Ulster County with a modern structure. The 78-year-old bridge is currently closed to traffic to safely facilitate construction. Approximately 2,000 vehicles per day travel over the bridge.
