REVISED SCHEDULE FOR THIS WEEK’S WORK ON THE TAPPAN ZEE BRIDGE DECK PROJECT, NOW THROUGH FRI., MARCH 29

Due to inclement weather, the New York State Thruway Authority revised its schedule for the Tappan Zee Bridge Deck Project today.

Work on the Tappan Zee Bridge will continue March 25 through March 29.  

Monday, March 25 through Friday, March 29
During the daytime hours, the contractor will be working within designated maintenance lane closures and/or underneath the bridge.
Nighttime lane closures scheduled for Monday, March 25 through Friday, March 29

Monday, March 25

No nighttime lane closures scheduled.

Tuesday, March 26

Work will begin at 9 p.m. resulting in the closure of one right southbound lane, an additional right southbound lane at 10 p.m., and another right southbound lane at 10:30 p.m. until 6 a.m. on the Tappan Zee Bridge. At least one lane southbound and three lanes northbound will be opened to traffic from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

During Tuesday night operations, due to the southbound lane closures, the southbound entrance to the Thruway at Exit 10 (South Nyack) will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and southbound detour signs will be posted through Nyack for the entrance at Route 59 near Exit 11 (Nyack).

Wednesday, March 27

Work will begin at 9 p.m. resulting in the closure of two right northbound lanes, and an additional right northbound lane at 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. on the Tappan Zee Bridge.  At least one lane northbound and three lanes southbound will be opened to traffic from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

During Wednesday night operations, due to the northbound lane closures, the entrance ramp to the Thruway from Broadway in Tarrytown will also be closed from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. All traffic will be detoured to the entrance ramp from Route 119.

Thursday, March 28

Work will begin at 10 p.m. resulting in the closure of two right northbound lanes until 6 a.m. on the Tappan Zee Bridge.  At least two lanes northbound and three lanes southbound will be opened to traffic from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

During Thursday night operations, due to the northbound lane closures, the entrance ramp to the Thruway from Broadway in Tarrytown will also be closed from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. All traffic will be detoured to the entrance ramp from Route 119.

Friday, March 29

Work will begin at 10 p.m. resulting in the closure of two right southbound lanes until 6 a.m. on the Tappan Zee Bridge. At least two lanes southbound and three lanes northbound will be opened to traffic from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

During Friday night operations, due to the southbound lane closures, the southbound entrance to the Thruway at Exit 10 (South Nyack) will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and southbound detour signs will be posted through Nyack for the entrance at Route 59 near Exit 11 (Nyack).

Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31

No work scheduled.

The nighttime lane closures on Tuesday through Friday are required in order for the contractor to continue with miscellaneous work on the Tappan Zee Bridge. 

For the safety of the public and construction workers, motorists are urged to proceed with caution and obey posted work-zone speed limits.

Traffic updates will be broadcast to motorists via Variable Message Signs along the highway and by Highway Advisory Radio 530 AM in the Tappan Zee Bridge corridor, as well as 1610 AM in the Newburgh area.
