Work on the Tappan Zee Bridge will continue March 4 through March 8, the New York State Thruway Authority announced today.

In case of inclement weather, the work may be postponed. Updates will be issued to announce any change in schedule.

During the daytime hours, the contractor will be working within designated maintenance lane closures and/or underneath the bridge.

Nighttime lane closures scheduled for Thursday, March 7 and Friday, March 8

Thursday, March 7

Work will begin at 8 p.m. resulting in the closure of two right southbound lanes until 6 a.m. At least two lanes southbound and three lanes northbound will be opened to traffic from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Due to the southbound lane closures, the southbound entrance to the Thruway at Exit 10 (South Nyack) will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and southbound detour signs will be posted through Nyack for the entrance at Route 59 near Exit 11.

Friday, March 8

Work will begin at 8 p.m. resulting in the closure of one right northbound lane, and an additional right northbound at 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. At least two lanes northbound and three lanes southbound will be opened to traffic from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Due to the northbound lane closures, the entrance ramp to the Thruway from Broadway in Tarrytown will also be closed from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. All traffic will be detoured to the entrance ramp from Route 119.

Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10

No work scheduled.

The nighttime lane closures on Thursday and Friday are required in order for the contractor to continue with miscellaneous work on the Tappan Zee Bridge.

For the safety of the public and construction workers, motorists are urged to proceed with caution and obey posted work-zone speed limits.
