EXIT 23-24 CONCRETE WORK CONTINUES APRIL 5 & 8
Ground vibrations will be experienced Friday, April 5 and Monday, April 8 as the mechanical demolition of existing highway pavement continues between exits 23 and 24 in Albany.
The work is scheduled to take place between the Russell Road and Schoolhouse Road underpasses from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on April 5 and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 8.
The vibrations and noise are caused by the use of a power driver to break up existing pavement as part of the highway reconstruction. No explosives or blasting devices are used. The impact on specific neighborhoods bordering the work zone is temporary as the construction moves along the seven-mile-long corridor.
The Thruway Authority appreciates the patience and understanding of its neighbors and the traveling public during the temporary disruptions caused by this construction project.
The reconstruction project began in 2011 and is scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2013. For details of the project go to: http://www.thruway.ny.gov/projectsandstudies/projects/i23-i24/index.html
