Bridge Removal Project in the Town of Hamburg (Exit 57/Camp Road)

Project Background

The Thruway bridge, built in 1955, crosses over Camp Road in the Town of Hamburg. The bridge is safe, but due to its age, maintenance costs will continue to increase. In addition to removing the bridge, the removal of ramps on the south side of Camp Road at exit 57 (Hamburg) will be included in this project.

Proposed Improvements

Major components of the project include:

  • Bridge and ramp removal
  • Increasing lane and shoulder width
  • Upgrading road surface
  • Improved pedestrian accommodation
  • Create road-level intersection with traffic light

Anticipated Project Schedule

The project is expected to begin in the spring of 2018 and take approximately one year to complete.
