TRAVELER ADVISORY: NIGHTLY TRAFFIC DISRUPTIONS EXPECTED ON NYS THRUWAY (I-90) EXIT 39 RAMP IN ONONDAGA COUNTY BEGINNING SUNDAY, JULY 22
Week-long Safety Improvement Project to Include Nightly Closures of Eastbound Ramps
The New York State Thruway Authority today announced the start of a ramp rehabilitation project on the NYS Thruway (I-90) exit 39 (Syracuse – I-690) which will require overnight ramp closures beginning Sunday, July, 22, 2018 through Thursday, July 26, 2018.
During the scheduled closures, crews will be performing full depth repairs and resurfacing of the exit 39 exit and entrance ramps. All work is expected to be completed during off peak hours to minimize impact to traffic.
The exit 39 eastbound entrance ramp to I-90 will be closed on Sunday, July 22 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, July 23 from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Thursday, July 26 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic seeking to enter I-90 eastbound will be detoured to I-690 east and can reenter at exit 34A (Syracuse – I-481).
Additionally, the exit 39 eastbound exit ramp from I-90 to I-690 will be closed to all traffic Tuesday, July 24 from 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. and Wednesday, July 25 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Traffic seeking to enter I-690 from the Thruway will be detoured off of exit 40 (Weedsport).
Variable Message Signs are already illuminated and will advise motorists of the ramp closures. The work and closures are weather dependent and subject to change.
