STATEMENT: THRUWAY AUTHORITY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MATTHEW J. DRISCOLL ON CASHLESS TOLLING IN GRAND ISLAND
DATE: Friday, March 30, 2018
Shortly after midnight Friday morning, Grand Island successfully became the Thruway Authority’s second cashless tolling location, the first in Upstate New York. The morning commute went smoothly as drivers slowed to safely pass through the unstaffed toll booth lanes at the north and south toll plazas. This traffic pattern will remain in effect for a short period of time as the toll barriers are safely removed, after which drivers will have a completely unobstructed ride across the Grand Island Bridges. We appreciate drivers’ patience as we continue to invest in our system to maintain the Thruway as the safest and most reliable superhighway of the 21st century.
