THRUWAY AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES $3.6 MILLION PROJECT TO REPLACE UNION STREET OVERPASS IN MONROE COUNTY

Overpass to Close on Monday, March 14 at 11 a.m. and Remain Closed Until Fall 2016

The Thruway Authority today announced that the Union Street bridge over I-90 in the town of Chili is scheduled to be replaced beginning on Monday, March 14. Contractors will close the bridge at 11 a.m. and construction will commence immediately to replace the existing bridge. It is expected to reopen in the fall of 2016.

Scheduled work will incorporate a full replacement of the existing structure; including but not limited to, new abutments, pier, superstructure, and approach pavement.

The Union Street overpass is located between Wheatland Center Road in the town of Wheatland and Chili-Scottsville Road (New York State Route 386) in the Town of Chili. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour during this construction period.

The project will be completed in accordance with the requirements of Governor Cuomo’s Driver’s First Initiative, which prioritizes the convenience of motorists and ensures that disruptions are kept at a minimum for drivers at highway and bridge projects across the state.

The Thruway Authority appreciates motorists’ patience during this scheduled work
