THRUWAY AUTHORITY REMINDS DRIVERS TO SHARE THE ROAD WITH AMERICADE ATTENDEES
Thousands of Motorcyclists Headed to Lake George for Annual Gathering

The New York State Thruway Authority is advising motorists to exercise additional caution this weekend as thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts will begin to arrive in Lake George for the 32nd annual Americade motorcycle rally.

“We cannot over-emphasize the importance for all travelers and motorcyclists to maintain awareness, while driving and to safely share the road, especially during Americade weekend,” said Thruway Executive Director Thomas J. Madison. “The Thruway is one of the safest superhighways in the nation and we will continue to make these types of efforts to ensure the safety of all motorists that travel the road.”

Americade, slated for June 2 through June 7, is one of the world’s largest motorcycle rallies and attracts some 50,000 participants. A majority of riders and spectators use the I-87 corridor, and also tour the local roads in the Adirondacks, making it essential that all types of motorists remember to share the road.

As a safety reminder, the Thruway Authority will be posting messages on electronic message signs system-wide.
