THRUWAY AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES THE
 RETURN OF THRUWAY FARMERS MARKETS
New York-Grown Produce, Goods being sold at Thruway Travel Plazas

The New York State Thruway Authority has announced another year of “Tailgate Farmer’s Markets” at Thruway travel plazas throughout the state.

“Thruway travelers can truly ‘Taste New York’ by sampling some of the best products that New York’s farmers have to offer at our Tailgate Farmer’s Markets,” said Thruway Executive Director Thomas J. Madison. “The Thruway Authority is proud to make these products available at our travel plazas in order to not only give our customers a better experience, but help support agriculture throughout the entire state.”

“Travel plazas located across the New York State Thruway are a perfect setting for our hard working farmers to showcase their world class products,” said State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball. For almost two decades, these markets have provided travelers with a convenient opportunity to enjoy farm products straight from local growers.  We welcome back our farmers for another prosperous season on the New York State Thruway.”

For almost 20 years, the Thruway Authority and New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets have partnered to give travelers the chance to sample some of the finest locally grown produce that New York’s farms have to offer. Everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to edible herbs and horticultural products can be found at a Tailgate Farmer’s Market. Only produce grown or produced in New York State may be sold.
