NORTHBOUND LANE SHIFT TO OCCUR
BETWEEN THRUWAY EXITS 23 AND 24
Third northbound lane to open as traffic shifts on Tuesday, October 15
Northbound traffic between exits 23 and 24 on the New York State Thruway (I-87) will be shifted to the newly constructed northbound roadway at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, the Thruway Authority announced.
All three northbound lanes will be open for travel, as construction activities move to the center median area. There will be no change to the southbound traffic pattern at this time.
Daily northbound lane closures will occur in order for the contractor to access the median for construction activities.
This lane shift occurs as the final phase of the three-year, $99.7 million construction project to add an additional travel lane in each direction between exits 23 and 24—currently the largest construction project in the Capital District—nears completion.
