RAMAPO AND SLOATSBURG SERVICE AREAS TO TEMPORARILY
OPERATE ON BACK-UP GENERATORS – OCT. 1 AND 2, 9-11 a.m.
The Ramapo and Sloatsburg service areas on I-87 in Rockland County will be operating on back-up generators between the hours of 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1 and Wednesday, October 2, the Thruway Authority announced today.
Orange and Rockland Utilities will be shutting down the power during this time on Waldron Terrace because of construction work in close proximity to an overhead high voltage service area. Waldron Terrace runs behind the Ramapo service area, and operates on the same grid as both service areas.
In the event of rain on Tuesday or Wednesday, the shutdown will occur on Thursday, October 3 during the same timeframe.
Both service areas will continue to operate. However, at the Sloatsburg service area Dunkin Donuts will be the only food service operating during this time. Restrooms and fuel will remain available.
Motorists should be aware of other possible service limitations due to this temporary power outage.
