PRESIDENTIAL VISIT EXPECTED TO IMPACT THRUWAY TRAFFIC
THIS THURSDAY AND FRIDAY, AUGUST 22 & 23
The New York State Thruway Authority is advising motorists in western and central New York to prepare for temporary road closures and slow traffic on the Thruway (I-90) due to President Barack Obama’s visit to the area on Thursday, August 22 and Friday, August 23.
President Obama is expected to visit the Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse areas as well as other parts of upstate.
Motorists may encounter temporary road closures and slow or stopped traffic on the Thruway. At certain times, motorists may be temporarily unable to enter the roadway at some interchanges, or unable to re-enter the roadway from Thruway service plazas and rest areas. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution at all times.
Thruway travelers are encouraged to visit www.Thruway.ny.gov for real-time traffic updates. Motorists can also sign up for TransAlert emails regarding thruway traffic conditions at http://www.thruway.ny.gov/tas/index.shtml or follow @ThruwayTraffic on Twitter.
The Thruway Authority thanks motorists for their patience and understanding during this special event.
