I-87 Exit 13 S Ramp to Close Saturday
Ironman U.S. Championship Slated
ROCKLAND COUNTY -- Motorists on the Thruway (I-87) are advised that the southbound and northbound I-87 Exit 13 S ramp to the southbound Palisades Interchange Parkway will be closed for the Ironman U.S. Championship, the New York State Thruway Authority announced.
The closure will take place between 2 a.m. and 8 p.m., Saturday, August 11.
The Ironman event involves closure of the Southbound Palisades Interchange Parkway from the George Washington Bridge in New Jersey to the Bear Mountain Bridge in Orange County, NY, from 2 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, August 11. As part of the closure of the parkway southbound, the two on-ramps from southbound parkway to I-87, and two off-ramps from I-87 to southbound on the parkway will be closed.
Electronic signboards and the Highway Advisory Radio (530 AM) will update motorists about expected delays.
During the 140.6 mile race, athletes will bike 112 miles along the Palisades Parkway, swim 2.4 miles in the Hudson River, and run 26.2 miles from Fort Lee, N.J., to Manhattan’s Riverside Park.
