Traffic Alert Update: Closed to Traffic - All I-87 Northbound Traffic Off at Exit 7, all Southbound Traffic 8A
Detours in Place Until Further Notice
The New York State Thruway Authority has announced that I-87 is closed in both directions between Exit 7 (Ardsley) and 8A (Sawmill River Parkway) until further notice, due to an overhead bridge issue.
The Authority has set up the following detours for motorists: All northbound traffic must leave I-87 at Exit 7. From there, they should take Route 9A north to Route 9, where they can re-enter I-87 at Exit 9 (Tarrytown).
Southbound motorists must leave I-87 at Exit 8A (Sawmill River Parkway). From there, they should take Route 119 east to Route 9A south, and re-enter I-87 at Exit 7 (Ardsley).
The Authority will utilize Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) 530 AM to inform motorists of the closure and detour routes.
I-87 will reopen as soon as conditions safely permit.
The Authority appreciates motorists’ patience during this time.
