TRAFFIC ADVISORY 10:05 A.M.: Exit 24 of Thruway Closed in Albany
No Traffic Toward I-87 Northbound or I-90 Eastbound
Motorists in the Albany area can expect delays Tuesday, May 8, because of the temporary closing of Exit 24 of the New York State Thruway.
The Exit 24 (Albany, Adirondack Northway) toll plaza will be closed to traffic headed northbound on I-87 and eastbound on I-90 from 12 noon to 3 p.m.
The Exit 24 toll plaza will remain open to motorists traveling south on the Adirondack Northway (I-87) and headed west on I-90 or south on I-87.
Northbound motorists from points south of Albany should use Exit 21A (I-90 east) to travel the Berkshire Spur to Exit B1 (I-90 west). Travelers should then take I-90 to I-787 north, continuing to Exit 9W to Route 7 and access to the Adirondack Northway (I-87).
Eastbound motorists should use Exit 23 (Downtown Albany) for I-787 north and access to I-90 east at Exit 5. Motorists seeking the Adirondack Northway (I-87) should continue on I-787 to Exit 9W for Route 7 west. A work zone in Downtown Albany will potentially result in extended back-ups during this period.
Electronic message signs and Highway Advisory Radio (1610 AM) will be activated to notify motorists of the toll plaza closure and suggested alternate routes.
The Thruway Authority appreciates motorists' patience during this time.
