Thruway Exit 24 to Close Tuesday Afternoon
Motorists Should Follow Alternate Routes
ALBANY – The Exit 24 toll plaza in Albany, servicing I-87 northbound and I-90 eastbound, will be closed from 12 noon until 3 p.m. on Tuesday May 8, 2012, the New York State Thruway Authority announced.
Northbound motorists from points south of Albany should use Exit 21A (I-90 east) to travel the Berkshire Spur to Exit B1 (I-90 west). Travelers should then take I-90 to I-787 north, continuing to Exit 9W to Route 7 and access to the Adirondack Northway (I-87).
Eastbound motorists should use Exit 23 (Albany) for I-787 north and access to I-90 east at Exit 5. Motorists seeking the Adirondack Northway (I-87) should continue on I-787 to Exit 9W for Route 7 west. A work zone in Downtown Albany will potentially result in extended back-ups during this period.
Southbound travelers on the Adirondack Northway (I-87) seeking access to I-90 west and I-87 south will be able to enter the Thruway at the Exit 24 toll plaza.
Electronic message signs and Highway Advisory Radio (1610 AM) will be activated to notify motorists of the toll plaza closure and suggested alternate routes.
The Thruway Authority appreciates motorists’ patience during this time.
