Hamburg-Silver Creek Improvement Project Continues
BUFFALO – Motorists on I-90 eastbound will encounter lane changes beginning at 6 a.m. Monday as construction work continues between Exit 57 (Hamburg) and Exit 58 (Silver Creek), the New York State Thruway Authority announced.
Beginning Monday, all eastbound traffic will be shifted on to the westbound lane. The traffic pattern change will remain in a single lane formation in both directions until mid-week when two lanes of traffic will be opened to motorists.
A concrete median on the westbound lane will separate traffic for both directions. Signs for reduced speed in this crossover section will be posted along with emergency detour signage. Troop T of the New York State Police will enforce the posted speed limit. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.
This phase of reconstruction is approximately 13 miles long and includes the interchange at Exit 57A (Eden, Angola) will remain open in both he eastbound and westbound directions.
This Thruway reconstruction project is in the final year of a three-year, $91.2 million contract awarded to Union Concrete and Construction Corporation, West Seneca, N.Y.
