Bridge Construction to Impact Westchester County
Work Begins March 1 in Mamaroneck and Harrison
WESTCHESTER COUNTY – Traffic patterns will be altered in Mamaroneck, Harrison and Rye because of reconstruction work on bridges where local roads cross I-95 (New England Expressway), the New York State Thruway Authority announced.
The work is scheduled to begin March 1, 2012, and by completed by the Fall of 2013.
Projects scheduled to begin Thursday, March 1, 2012, are:
FENIMORE ROAD, Mamaroneck. There will be alternating lane closures on Fenimore Road Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Along I-95, there will be shoulder and lane closures Monday through Friday, between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
WEST STREET, Harrison. A temporary traffic signal will be installed to allow alternating, one-lane traffic throughout work on this bridge over the I-95.
Projects scheduled to begin in June 2012 are:
ROCKLAND AVENUE, Mamaroneck. Temporary detours will be posted when the local road is closed for repairs to the concrete decks on the overpass of I-95. The road will not be closed when school is in session.
CENTRAL AVENUE, Rye. Temporary detours will be posted when the local overpass to I-95 road is closed for repairs.The four bridge reconstructions are covered in a $3.2 million contract awarded in December 2011 to the Defoe Corporation, Mount Vernon, NY.
