Thruway Authority Announces North Grand Island Bridge
Northbound Repairs Scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday Weather Permitting
Motorists Advised to Avoid Bridge, Exit 21, Choose Alternate Routes

The New York State Thruway Authority announced repairs on the North Grand Island Bridge northbound in the vicinity of Exit 21 have been scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, weather permitting.  From 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. the right lane will be closed.

Weather permitting, the same schedule will be repeated on Sunday, December 13, 2009.

The repairs will take place along I-190 northbound between Exit 20 (Long Road) and Exit 21 (Robert Moses Parkway).

Motorists should plan for congestion and delays during the scheduled repairs.  Motorists familiar with this area should avoid I-190 at the North Grand Island Bridge northbound and seek alternate routes.

The Authority will activate its Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) to advise motorists of this lane closure.

The Authority appreciates motorists’ patience while this important repair takes place.
