Thruway Authority Announces Thruway Closure Between Interchange 59 (Dunkirk) and the Pennsylvania State Line Due To Lake Effect Snow
The New York State Thruway Authority has just announced that the New York State Thruway (I-90) has been closed between Interchange 59 (Dunkirk) and the Pennsylvania State Line due to heavy lake effect snow and white-out conditions. This closure is in place for eastbound and westbound motorists.
This 29-mile section will reopen as soon as weather conditions permit and crews can clear the snow from the roadway making it passable and safe for motorists.
As always, motorists are reminded to drive with caution during inclement weather.
The Authority has activated Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) to alert motorists to the closure and weather-related delays.
The Authority appreciates motorists’ understanding at this time.
